NHS Community Pharmacy Hypertension case finding and Blood Pressure Check Service

We would like to offer you free blood pressure check ups!

The service is designed for those that are over 40s, or over 30’s with risk factors (such as a family history or obesity) to find those not yet diagnosed with high blood pressure or for those identified by their GP for example those who are not coming in for checks or prefer our opening times or access. We are also happy to do a blood pressure check for anyone who asks us for it as part of our service.

We have the facility for Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) when your blood pressure appears to be higher than normal.

ABPM tests your blood pressure regularly over 24 hours, by using a cuff attached to a portable device that’s worn on your waist.

You can continue with your daily activities during this time.

We will fit you with the device that will measure your blood pressure at home and arrange for you to return the next day to get a report which will indicate whether your blood pressure is within the normal range or you need to see your GP for further management.

The aim of monitoring and giving you feedback on your blood pressure is that by detecting uncontrolled blood pressure we could reduce your risk of heart attacks and strokes . We inform GPs of all blood pressure check results for continuity of care. If your blood pressure is high, your GP will be informed the same day.

If your GP has referred you we might have booked you into one of our clinics.
